Fulfil Your Potential
Taurus (April 19- May 20)
Reconnect with your passionate, sensual self and blossom!
Greek, Persian, Sanskrit, and Babylonian astrologers agreed that the star group known as Taurus was a bull. It was traditionally ruled by the planet Venus and the element earth. Venus is the goddess of beauty and love. Keywords: harmony, unison, relatedness.
I designed the Yoga by the Stars book's Taurus-inspired yoga practice in Taurus' month of May, when, here in the UK, all the trees are coming into blossom. So, the image of the tree in blossom was the one I held in my mind when designing the practice. Venus, the ruler of Taurus, is associated with the period of adolescence, so the image of blossoming seemed appropriate; with the underlying idea of opening, like blossom and fulfilling potential.
The tree in blossom image may at first glance seem a long way from the traditional symbol of Taurus the bull. However, the stability and earthiness of the sign is captured in the rootedness of the tree. The ruler-ship of Venus is captured in the sattvic beauty of the blossom, against the backdrop of a clear blue sky. When I was designing the practice I found myself exploring movements that reached down to the earth, and then stretched up to the sky. Drawing energy up from the earth and blossoming up towards the sky. Pulling energy down from the sky and rooting down into earth.
The Taurus-inspired yoga practice can be found in the Yoga by the Stars book, and remember it's for everyone not just those whose Sun sign is Taurus. It will put you in touch with your sensual side and help you to develop a sense of connection with the natural world. It frees blocked energy, is calming and steadying, boosts energy and vitality, and awakens creative potential.
